At MTN we allow you to customize your phone with cool ringtones that reflect you. MTN has a wide range of songs, in different genres for you to choose from. In accessing the ringtone options, you must remember that it depends on the format your phone supports. Older phones generally support only monophonic ringtones, i.e., they play one note at a time. More current phones generally support polyphonic ring tones, i.e. play tunes in harmony. The newest cell phones have MP3 technology, and play actual song samples. These samples sound like the song does on the radio. Before purchasing or downloading ring tone from MTN you should check to see if your phone is compatible with the product. Most handsets under a year old can support polyphonic ring tones. Polyphonic tones are sent to you as a link to a WAP page. You will find the link to this WAP page in a text message. You will need to visit this WAP page in order to download your product. Text messages should arrive quickly but may take up to 24hrs if there are network problems. Please find below a number of points to help you troubleshoot, if there are any problems with the service. If your text message did not arrive this could be for a number of reasons:
1. Your SMS inbox is full. Clear your inbox by deleting unwanted messages If the WAP link did not work this could be for a number of reasons:
1. Your WAP settings are not up to date. You need to get the latest WAP settings
2. Your WAP connection or signal may have dropped out You can download the same ring tone free for the next 24 hours, until you manage a successful download If you accessed the WAP page but could not download the ring tone this could be for a number of reasons:
1. There is not enough space in your handsets memory. If your handset does not have enough space on its memory for your download, you should delete some large files (such as games, videos, etc…) or some older pictures/images/wallpapers/ring tones that you do not want anymore. Note: once you delete something you will not be able to retrieve it. How to Preview a toneTo preview a ring tone, simply click on the speaker symbol beside the ring tone you wish to listen to. To preview any ring tone on your PC, you will need software that allows you to play mp3 files (e.g. Windows Media Player, Real Player, or Winamp). Downloading a ring toneTo have any of the Monophonic/Polyphonic/True tone delivered to your phone simply text Ring tone code to short code 1418 from your MTN number.
Your handset must be setup for WAP and compatible for Monophonic or Polyphonic & True tones.NB!

2. Remember the code
3. SMS the code to 1418 You will be sent an SMS with a WAP address (for Polyphonic & True tones).
Go to the WAP address and you will be able to download the ring tone to your phone
