Activating New SIM Card
How do I activate my MTN number?
Simply register your new MTN number at any registration point with a valid national ID.            
Then make your first call and the number is activated.

Family and Friends
F&F allows you to make discounted calls to 4 MTN numbers and one international number (US, CANADA, MTN NIGERIA, and UK FIXED LINES).
Make calls at 0.6p to 4MTN GH numbers and 1 International number.
Add 5 of your favorite numbers change them every 15 days and enjoy discounts on your calls.

How do I activate a family & friends number?
Type AddDial 1333 listen to the prompt enter your MTN number, then your 4 digit pin, listen to the prompt and select option 5 to add a f&f number.

How do I check numbers registered on F&F?
Simply type CHECK SEND TO 1333 and you will receive sms with the information.
Call 1333 type in your phone number, your 4 digit pin select option 5 and follow the voice prompt.
Log on to http://eselfcare.mtn.com.gh.  Type in your phone number, your password then select Family and Friends then select view F&F Numbers.

How do I change or cancel a family & friends number?
Type Cancel Call 1333 type in your phone number, your 4 digit pin select option 5 and follow the voice prompt.

Caller Tunez
To have your friends and family to enjoy cool music as they wait for you to pick up
Simply activate the MTN Caller Tunez dial 1355 and follow the voice prompt or text SUB to 1355 to activate.

Can I copy a tune I hear on a friend’s line?
Yes, simply dial 1355 press 2 then enter the phone number of your friend and you can copy all or some of the songs in your friend’s library.
Simply press *to copy a song when you call a friend on MTN and like the tune that is playing.

Roaming
Can I use my phone abroad?
Yes, PAYG customers have the roaming service on their sim by default therefore need no      activation they just need to recharge.
Pay Monthly customers need to activate the roaming service.
How do I recharge while roaming?
MTN Mobile Money subscribers can recharge their accounts using Mobile Money.
Non MTN Mobile Money subscribers are entreated to register MTN Mobile Money and deposit as much money as they need on their wallets.

How do I make calls while roaming?
Dial *111*00233 24/54XXXXXXX# and send. Wait for a call back and pick call.
How do I send sms whiles I am roaming?
Send sms using the international dialing format (00233244xxxxxxx)



Recharging your credit
What happens if I over scratch my recharge card?
Simply call our toll free number 111 or walk into any MTN service center and the card will be recharged for you.

How can I recharge for another MTN subscriber with a scratch card or recharge if 125 or *125* fast refill option is not working?
Customers can use the self service system r to recharge their account.
Simply dial 1333 listen to the prompt type in your 4 digit pin then select option 3 to recharge your number. Sms is sent to confirm recharge is successful.
Type Recharge <4digit pin *144*number*14 digits activation numbers# then send



GPRS
How can I access the internet on my handset?
Simply send a blank SMS to 686 or type*686# then press send. For compatible handsets there would be a feedback that they will have to save on their handset.
Walk into any MTN service center with your handset does not support our automatic configuration for our staff to configure it manually.

ME 2 U
Customers can transfer credit to their friends and family from their lines.
Simply REGISTER first then transfer a minimum of GHc 1.00 to a maximum of GHc 50.00, 50 times in every 24 hours.
How do I register?

Type Register – (4digit pin) and send to 1329
USSD option
 *198*1*4 DIGIT PIN#
How do I transfer credit?
SMS option

Phone Advice
How do find my PUK if my PUK if my starter pack is missing?
Simply Dial 1333 our self service number, enter your phone number, type in any 4 digits as your pin number and then select option 4.
Customers will receive sms with their PUK.
Customers can also call our Toll free number 111 or visit any MTN service center for assistance.

Lost or stolen handset
What do I do if my handset is stolen /missing?
Buy a new SIM card, do not insert it inside a phone, call our toll free number 111 you will be required to answer a few questions for verification. Your number will be attached onto the new SIM
Walk into any service with a valid ID card if your number is registered, if your number is not registered then you must have your starter pack& a valid ID, or must have registered F&F. Customers who have registered F&F will have to confirm the numbers on F&F and must have an ID   . Customers will pay GHC 1.00 for the SIM replacement.

Will I lose credit on my sim when it is replaced?
No, credits on every account are maintained during a sim swap or sim replacements. Customers only lose their credits if their handset was stolen and the credits have been used up before the replacement or swap is done.

SMS
 Why can’t I send or receive sms?
Check your message center number .Go to Menu, Messages, and message settings then    select    message center number, then type +233244500000.
Check your credit balance; customers with insufficient credits will be unable to send sms.
Check your message memory, i.e. inbox, sent items and outbox if it is full you will unable to send and receive sms. Delete some messages and you should be able to send and receive sms.

PAY 4 ME


How do I make a PAY 4 ME call?
Prefix the number with 154(154xxxxxxxxx) or *154*number then # (*154*xxxxxxxxx#)
Can I make PAY 4 ME calls to IDD or OFF NET numbers?
No, for now Pay 4 ME calls are limited to ONLY MTN GHANA numbers.
How much am I charged if I receive a PAY 4 ME call?
0.10 pesewas is charged per minute when you receive a PAY 4 ME call.

CALL BACK
You need to make a call but you don’t have credits
Simply send a call back message at no charge. Go to sms type the receivers number enter digit 1-4  (1 pls call me ,2 I can’t talk now pls text me,3 I have missed you pls call, 4 its important pls call) send to 1399.
How many times can I send a call back message and can I send to all numbers?
All customers can send 60 sms to MTN numbers & 10 to international numbers in a month and call back messages are not sent to off net numbers.
How do I check the number of call back messages I have sent in a month?
Text BAL to 1399 and receive a feedback of your remaining call back sms.

 

DSTV MOBILE
Can I watch TV on my phone?
Yes, with a compatible handset (ZTE F900, F912, NOKIA 5330, N96, and N77) you can watch any of the 3 DSTV Bouquets (MAXI, MINI &FREE).
Is DSTV MOBILE service available across the country?
No, this service is available only in Accra and Tema for now.

PHONE BOOK BACK UP
Do I need to buy a new sim to be able to back up my contacts?
Yes, to back up contacts every customer must purchase a sim back up sim card perform a sim change then copy his contacts unto that sim. Customers can go to my MTN select MTN back up then synchronize.
Am I charged when I back up my contacts?
0.00p for the initial backup
4p for every subsequent backup
20p per every restore transaction.

 

CLIR & SOCLIR
Can I hide or show my number when I am making a call?
PAYG customers can activate the CLIR service to hide their number anytime they make a call.

Will I be charged for using this service?
Yes, GHC 2.00 will be charged upon activation and every month.
After activation how do I hide my number before I make a call?

Go to CALL SETTINGS select SHOW /HIDE NUMBER OR CALL SETTINGS select send my caller ID select NO /OFF to HIDE or SHOW your Number.

Can I buy a data Bundle with my MTN number?
Yes, all MTN prepaid customers can buy a data bundle on their data numbers or Voice lines.
Do I need to visit any MTN service center to buy a data bundle?
No, all prepaid customers can simply send *138# follow the prompts to buy a data bundle.
How many data bundles are there available to all prepaid customers?
All prepaid customers have 7 data bundles available to them as shown below:

Do I need to buy special credit to buy a data bundle?

No, credits in a customer’s main account will be deducted with the equivalent of data bundle purchased.
