Accra, August 18, 2010 – The Mobile Telecommunications Network, MTN, has announced plans to execute seven (7) different projects in deprived communities to celebrate the third anniversary of the MTN Ghana Foundation. The projects will be executed in the months of November and December 2010 and will extend beyond the two (2) traditional focus areas of the Foundation – Health and Education.The projects include:
Aside the above, the 2009 Ghana Club 100 Corporate Social Responsibility Company of the Year award winner will also undertake a number of initiatives towards marking the celebrations. Mr. Robert Kudzoe, the Executive Secretary of the MTN Ghana Foundation said that “the Foundation is committed to assisting in achieving better standards of living for people in deprived communities where MTN operates in.” “Though the Foundation is barely three (3) years old, it has chalked tremendous successes in supporting health and education in Ghana”, she added.
Since its establishment in November 23rd, 2007, the Foundation has invested over GHC3, 058, 227.34 in its CSR projects.Last month, the MTN Ghana Foundation was adjudged by the MTN Group in South Africa as the winner of the 100,000 dollar prize for the 2010 Y’ello Care exercise. This was received as great news since the Ghana Foundation will be using the amount in addition to its budget to execute a number of similar projects for the 2011 business year.
