MTN Ghana recently organized an investment forum for 400 retailers in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions to help boost their knowledge of investment opportunities available for small and medium sized businesses.
The forum, which was held at Miklin Hotel, formed part of the MTN Ashanti festival dubbed AshantiFest, held in Kumasi and its environs from the 14th to 20th May, 2012.
Resource persons from Databank, Fidelity and Zenith banks took turns to educate the retailers on many essential subjects for business growth, such as Basic Book Keeping, Expanding One’s Business through Access to Credit Facilities and Preparing for Retirement. The participants were encouraged to keep proper records and to cultivate the habit of saving to ensure the smooth running of their business.
MTN’s Regional Sales Manager for Kumasi, Mr. David Gyimah Boadi and Mr. Abubakar I. Mohammed, Branch Network Services Senior Manager for Northern Business District, provided more insights into MTN’s new products.
In an interview with one of the vendors, Mr. Kwaku Kwarteng expressed his appreciation to MTN for creating the opportunity for them to learn more about the different investment opportunities available to them.
He said “I am happy to learn more about the new ways of growing my business and investing my savings for the future."
Prior to the business forum, the retailers had the opportunity to participate in a Health Screening exercise organized by MTN. They were also taken through the prevention and management of Hepatitis B and other diseases.
The forum has been an integral part of MTN’s activities organized periodically to engage the retailers. It also provided opportunities for MTN officials to address issues the retailers might have.
