Ghana and Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has been nominated for more awards.
Michael who has already been nominated and is in the running for the BBC African footballer of the year award to be decided on 8th January 2010 has been nominated for two more awards.
FIFA has recognised Michael's work, shortlisting him for the Puskas Award, as football's governing body looks to determine who scored the best goal of the 2008/09 season. This will be decided on 21st December 2009 and features Michael's goal against Barcelona in the Champions League
Essien has also been nominated for the CAF African Footballer of the Year award. The short list for CAF's award include Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, Seydou Keita & Yaya Toure. This will be decided on 25th February 2010 by votes from head coaches of the National Associations affiliated to CAF taking into consideration the performance of each nominee during the year under review.
